PARENTS' EVENINGS
Schools often have special evenings for parents and Gerry is happy to be
a part, to show them that Maths can be fun too.
Emphasising mental skills and strategies the Magic Maths presentations aim
to enthuse and motivate children in Mathematics, develop their confidence
and make it fun too. A maths magician will be something different for your
pupils and an added incentive for that special "maths week".
Presenter Gerry Walker BSc PGCE is an experienced primary teacher/maths
coordinator and children's magician. He has combined these skills to provide
an innovative presentation for primary schools in England and Wales. Not
only are you booking a maths entertainer but a day full of ideas that you
can use.
SINGLE CLASS Working in the classroom the Maths Workshops provide Hands on Investigative activities in discovering magic trick secrets, solving puzzles, unusual games and exploring patterns.
Number, shape, probability, mental strategies… maths workshops can be selected to meet YOUR current needs and, of course, the ages and abilities of the children. The children will want to do more so naturally there are lots of follow up ideas.
LARGE GROUP This is ideal for several classes at one presentation. The interactive Maths Show is activity based with novel colourful props, puzzles, tricks etc using money, cards, inside out boxes, Rubik cubes etc.
The K.S.1 show includes a time telling Teddy Bear, a pop up rabbit that eats odd numbers, number bonds with a magic wand and subtraction where the actual number climbs out of the board. Foundation stage covered too.
Separate presentations for upper and lower juniors explore concepts of
number, space & shape, probability, fractions as seen through the eyes of
a magician.
